My story

My name is

Patrizia Vitelli

EAT GIRL, FOOD GUIDE AND PASSIONATE TRAVELLER WHO LOVES CRAFT BEER.

The story behind Bilbao Food Tours goes back three years. I found myself constantly taking friends and family on private food tours showing them the best pintxos, cooking for them or sharing basque recipes. One day my husband said “You girl always give so much value to your relatives through these experiences. You should start a food tour company so other people will be able to enjoy your tours as much as they do”. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I’m self proclaimed foodie: I’ve made lot of delicious research tasting the best that the city has to offer (hard work, you can guess) to bring you the best options. My goal is to offer you a unique way of experiencing Bilbao, so, lets meet each other 🙂

My favorite places
in Bilbao

BREAKFAST

Brass27 when I feel I’m that king of girl that eats avo toast and acai bowls. If I want something traditional, I always choose the tortilla de patata at Cafetería Gorliz or the churros at Café del Arenal.

MY SUPER SPECIAL PLACE

Getxo, the city where I live, its just 10 km away from Bilbao (20 minutes in the subway). Go walking from the Biscay Unesco Bridge to the Old Fisherman Port walking through the beach, and once you’re there, order some Idiazabal cheese croquettes (cheese again?? damn gurl) at Itxasbide Taberna or some mussels with tomato sauce at Arrantzale. Unforgettable experience and 100% free of tourism.

FOOD SHOP

I’m obsessed with cheese so I will recommend you a cheese boutique which is La Manducateca. The also have a good collection of local beers and chocolates. Perfect for an edible souvenir.

TRADITIONAL CUISINE

El Arandia de Julen, like visiting the basque grandma you’ll wish you had.

MODERN CUISINE

Bascook, the essential thing to order is the GILDA sushi maki, the perfect combination between Japan and Basque Country.

BAR

Bihotz, good coffee, the best craft beer and amazing people. PLEASE GO THERE.
